After finishing a degree in Fine Art, Deborah pursued a career in photography working for publications like Vogue, Elle Decoration, The Guardian Weekend and Sunday Times.
Since then, together with a friend Kathy Bacovitch, she co-wrote and illustrated her first children’s book, Follow That String published by Random House.
Wanting to hone her drawing and illustrative skills she applied to do an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin which she completed in Jan 2018. This proved to be the best decision possible in terms of finding insight and encouragement from both tutors and fellow students
Nostalgia and atmosphere have always played an important part in her work. It was, however, after having children and revisiting the books of her past that she realised how much these illustrated stories meant to her and how they helped shape and formulate her aesthetic.
She lives in North London with her husband and two sons who somewhat reluctantly continue to allow her to use them for inspiration.
